Everyday Formal

Ever heard that saying “chivalry is dead”? Well Apparently men dressing well in formal wear is dead to. Guy’s lets bring back that age of slick slacks and great blazers in a new style. I can’t tell you how many times at school I’m confronted for wearing a tie asking, “oh what’s the occasion?” Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize looking like a sharp dressed stud was illegal to do without an occasion. As ZZ Top states, “every girl crazy bout a sharp dressed man.” This is oh to true so guys take a few tips on how to apply this style to yourself and don’t be afraid to pull a few ladies in the process.

Ill start out with two looks on the more affordable side. And keep in mind once you have one blazer you can always mix it up with a bunch of different colored shirts, ties, and slacks. The first look is A Topman feature from nordstrom’s, the Skinny Wool Trousers($150), Wool Blazer($350), grab a black dress shirt, skinny black tie ($12) from H&M, and these Magnanni ‘Dorio’ Velvet Venetian loafer($285). This is a simple but eye catching look and throw a light brown leather belt and this Topman ‘ish’ leather watch($25) and your set to go.

The next look takes a bit more casual side of dressing up, and can all be found at nordstrom’s. From top down, James Perse jersey v-neck T in white($50), John Varvatos Star USA ‘dwell 2’ black blazer($199), red Topman skinny chinos($60) and the Allen Edmonds MacNeil oxford in black ($345). This look is completely versatile wether you wish to put a button up on, or maybe throw on some different watches and such. It’s a perfect balance between casual and formal. Don’t be afraid to throw on those glasses as well guys it’ll give you a much classier look if you wear them.

And never forget guy you always button just the top button. Thats it. Now stay tuned for tomorrow's post where I go over a more formal look to keep you looking good for a friday night out.

Ladies and studded outfits

Alright so today it's the ladies turn on how to rock the studded look. It's in trend and a great way to add some edge to your style if you can do it correctly. I'll try to focus on keeping warm in the winter with this rocker chick look.
I'll first start with the studded leather look. A beautiful thing if done right. Nastygal.com sells this wicked black Spiked moto jacket($218) that you could pair with this plain plunger tee($28) also from nastygal.com, J Brand's lambskin leather pants($895) from nordstroms and your choice of the popular jeffrey campbell lita spike's($95) or Steve Madden's Frankie boot($145). Don't forget to tie it all together with this badass clutch also from nastygal.com

Now if you trying to stick to less grunge, more formal chic, try this route on for size. A little stud goes a long way in this outfit. These loud Steve Madden studly L cheetah print stud flats($66) at nordstrom's, Hudson nico skinny jeans in red($150) also from nordstrom's, Equipment's ruby silk black blouse($228), and this dip-dye faux fur jacket($228) from nastygal.com Tie it all together with some gold accessories you can grab at nastygal.com and your set for a night out.

Now wether your trying to dress it up or down, go more formal or more bold, studs are a perfect way to express either styles. Keep in mind to not over stud your outfit though, like I said a little stud goes a long way. And These two outfits are only a basis off of a thousand ways you could use this accessory in your style. Don't be afraid to play around with mixing in studded jewelry. And also don't be afraid to throw in pops of color like the red pants above. It can set a nice tone for your outfit. Thats my word on girls and studs stay tuned for tomorrow post.

The studded man

The studded man.
Now I'm not one to say that girl's shouldn't be wearing studded outfits. They look downright sexy and its a great trend. But common men that was stolen right from our punk roots. So today I say lets take that back.
Now i'll always be giving the high end and affordable end on clothing ideas so keep that in mind.
First off who says guys can't wear some studded shoes as well.
Check out this studded pair of monk strap shoes from Zara($165). Perfect with a pair of G-star's 3301 slim aged wash jeans($140) and a white v-neck to get that classic rocker look.

Alternatively another option to this shoe would be the Dr. Marten studded Harlen($250).
Now if you trying to flash it up a bit try these studded roller boy spikes from Christian Louboutin($1,395), a perfect flash of color on a night out with some black slim slacks, black button up and Boss's Black "Keys" Velvet blazer from nordstrom's($595).

Now for pants I'm not to huge on studs, but jackets are different. Levis has a great affordable denim jacket the slim fit trucker($88) on their website. Go online to   http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale/wholesale-studs-for-clothing.html to pick up some super affordable studs, grab your classic denim jacket, and stud either the front two pockets or the edges of the shoulder. And add a white shirt, G-star's 3301 super slim black jeans($200), some boots and you got a second awesome rocker look to make the ladies drool.

Don't forget you can stud virtually any jacket you want, but make sure you don't over do it with the studs.
And always to complete the look with some accessories the classic black ray ban wayfarer's($150) are always my first pick for this style and throw on this leather cross M cohen bracelet($170) from karmaloop.com and your set.

And guys, never forgot as well as your new studded style is going to play out for you, keep the hair clean cut. Personally I rock the slick back look but regardless of what you believe, nobody wants to see a messy head of hair so keep it clean. Because secretly we all would love to look like Ryan Gosling on a daily basis, because he always gets the girls with his style.

Thats my advice for you so I hope to see the men take back this studded look.
Your stylist James Maze.

The beginning

Now to start off on this adventure of a blog, I'd like to explain my point of view on fashion. It is everywhere around us, and it is what defines us in my opinion. Style is an essence of your being and says a lot about a person. Even not having a style can be a style. Clothes make us feel comfortable in our skin wether we are fat or skinny, young or old, tall or short. There is something for everyone. Style's come in every form as well. From preppy to jock to formal to skater to chic, its all there to define us. And you can be one of three people. There are the ones to follow, to conform to what they see. They do not define their own style but absorb others into themselves to project that its really who they are when it might not be. Not to say this is bad it takes effort and time to be something your not and perfect a style and money as well to continually keep up with the changes of the norm. Then there are the ones who create. It takes an ingenious mind to form a new trend and create your own sense of style. However this can branch into two section: A unique style with good taste and something worth noting. Something that can be absorbed by the fashion industry and liked by many. Then there is the style that is worth more value in ignoring when the person walks by. Do not confuse style with that random mismatched outfit you think is chic. Because it is not. Lastly there are those who beautifully blend style with trend with creativity in harmony which I like to call a stylist. Its someone who understands the balance between these things and creates something unique on their own for someone to enjoy. They can pinpoint a style down to the last shoe string and belt, or create a wave of new trends because they know whats coming next. This is what I am and what I'm striving to perfect. My eye is not made for stiching and designing an item, but piecing together clothing in a manner suitable to even the pickiest of clients. I may be new, but I have a lot to say and big dreams to fill. Follow me in my journey through my life fashion to learn, read, criticize, whatever may please you. I am James Maze, and this is the blog of a Sharp Dressed Man.
